Mission

Over the past 20 years, advancements in technology have taken place faster than at any time in human history. New technologies such as Facebook, Google,  and smartphones are considered an indispensable part of modern life. Fortunes have been made and lost, and governments have tumbled because of these new tools. And with principles such as Moore’s Law  (somewhat) in effect, the rate of technological advancement will only increase in the coming years. This has the potential change not only how we live, but how we think, and who we are.

But if the advance of technology is changing us in some ways, HOW is it changing us? How is it changing how we work and live together? And for those who follow Christ, we must also ask – is the change being brought about in us by technology bringing us closer to Christ? Is it helping us to live according to God’s Word and fulfill the mission of the Church? Is the impact of technology on society as a whole making people more open to Christ, or more closed to Him?

The purpose of this blog is to serve a forum for discussing the impact of advancing technology from a Christian perspective. Here, we hope to soberly assess new developments in social media, mobile technology, and the Internet, and try to identify potential repercussions for the Church and our world.

  1. Good stuff, Marcus. I enjoyed meeting you at the technology conference at Gordon Conwell. I’m looking forward to your continuing thoughts on this important confluence of topics.
